June 4th is National Practice Speaking in Public Day
Effective practice for speaking in public is to practice out loud, preferably to an audience or record to review.
Practice the basics for effective presentations by following these steps.
1. Create your content based your audience. Their knowledge, experience and the venue - live on stage or virtual meeting.
2. Begin with an outline with your objective uppermost in your mind. Don't create your outline on PowerPoint or Keynote. Just because the programs were included in your laptop, does not mean you are a graphic artist. Leave that to the professionals.
3. Take advantage of National Practice Speaking in Public Day to exercise your presentation skills. Out loud, with purpose. Regardless of your medium (live on stage or virtually) always remember step 1 - consider your audience.
